KASRA

About KASRA

KASRA, Katahdin Area Snowmobile Racing Affilates, a division of the East Branch Sno Rovers was established in the spring of 2010. The purpose of establishing KASRA was to bring the sport of snowmobile ice drag racing to a new level in the state of Maine and the Northeast. Creating a hub for snowmobile drag racing is the goal of KASRA and helping this along will be a scheduled five race points series held at the KASRA/EBSR facility this winter. The racing will be conducted with a full racing affiliation of ISR, International Snowmobile Racing Inc. of West Bend Wisconsin and the Club will be only the 2nd affiliated organization in New England, the other being the Northeast Drag Racing association and the Epping Grass Drag Series.

The Sno Rovers started ice racing last year on a ground based track and although only having one year's experience of drag racing, the club showed the poise of a premiere up-and-coming racing facility with the hosting of the Maine State Championship race last winter. The track, which is built entirely on land, is 60' wide by 2200' long and is iced out to 1500' and then groomed snow out to 2200'. A water hydrant was installed next to the track for flooding and will allow the Club to keep this massive sheet of ice perfect for racing. The club also purchased a second Zamboni ice grooming machine this summer to assist the one it already had. These two machines are what make this track stand alone in being the best ice drag racing surface in the Northeast.  -FALL OF 2010
